David R. Ellis, the director of "Snakes on a Plane" passed away Monday morning in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was 60 years old and the cause of death is unknown. Ellis was born in Malibu, and was a top ranked junior pro surfer. Before directing he did stunt work in such films as "Scarface," "Fatal Attraction," and "Patriot Games." He was in South Africa doing pre-production on a Samuel L. Jackson film entitiled "Kite." Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
